rodrigo y gabriela = sol y luna

Rodrigo y Gabriela epitomize the dynamic relationship between masculine/feminine.

Let me first preface and say both are musical geniuses. At first observance, we see Rodrigo soloing and marvel at the man's craftsmanship. As the song progresses, Gabriela simply and sturdily lays the foundation for Rodrigo to drive the rhythm, to penetrate forward. We forget Gabriela maintaining the structure for Rodrigo to solo, to create in. Her ability to receive whatever direction Rodrigo initiates and adapt to it goes overlooked. Her steadiness becoming an afterthought, Rodrigo amassing the attention. But as the song builds to its climax and its her turn, something comes over her, possesses her. See, she is the mother, Rodrigo is the son. The mother shouldering the gift and burden of reproduction, understands the act of creation more innately. And then with her solo, she completely OWNS it. She is the destructive force. The yang. To own it so wholly is to only begin again. To go to 4.
